AN EMBARRASSING WEEK-END ALL ROUND FOR SOME?

I want to start with our Labour Home Secretary, whose husband sits at home accessing 'porno' on TV and then slips the bill into her expenses file. As a tax-payer, I am more concerned with her sleeping arrangements at her sisters (far more costly') than her husband's viewing habits. At my age, I find our Home Secretary quite an attractive lady. The major embarrassment for her is perhaps not a 'tenner', but the perception that she, as a woman approaching middle-age has a husband who is sitting at home watching porn rather than saving his energy to make wild passionate love to her!

The next embarrassing shambles is closer to home. I am glad to see that 'Our Ken' has deleted, at some time today, his site's (Village Voice) comment that referred to a fellow Conservative Councillor. (I have saved it for posterity).
As a fellow blogger, I was concerned on Saturday night when I saw the item and 'posted' on Strife about it. I am afraid that 'Our Ken' failed to understand that I was giving him a big hint to gracefully withdraw the comment on the grounds that he might not have caught up with it yet.(It is important as a Cllr to either keep a close eye on your blog or put in Comment Moderation.) That would perhaps have been the end of the matter.
.
I now suspect, despite his complete misunderstanding and mis-reading of the point I was making and the offer for 'Strife' to pull down its post, he has now been advised by others that it might have been a good idea to delete the item. He has now done so.
.
I am pleased with that but it does beg the question why he was ever appointed Chair of Planning vice Cllr Bill Hayton, if he is unable to understand what he is reading! I would have thought that an analytical mind and understanding of the reams of verbage involved in Planning Applications would at least be a basic requirement of the job? I must presume he has other qualities that appeal to his 'Leader', Cllr Ezekiel.

The other embarrassing moment at the week-end, has to be Cllr Zita Wiltshire, belatedly rushing around businesses on Saturday morning in St Peter's (her patch) behind prospective KCC Candidate Jenny Matterface and a Labour KCC Councillor who visited shops and businesses on FRIDAY, to brief them. ( see Another Potpourri below).
.
Cllr Wiltshire's aim appears to have been, belatedly perhaps, to 'up-date' them on her progress with KCC Highways and the contractors putting in gas mains. The trader, who very kindly gave me the hand-out below, was un-impressed with Cllr Wiltshire's ONLY visit in 5 weeks. He had not seen his other ward Cllrs at all (Cllr Ken Gregory or Cllr Savage).
.
Whilst the good news is that the work is likely to finish early, the fact has to be admitted that our Labour 'types' in wards, are faster on the ball and seen to be helping or at least trying to help, than some of our Conservative Ward Cllrs. Complacency about future electoral outcomes needs to avoided by the Conservatives in Thanet.
(Please click on the 'hand-out' below.)I have to admit to some astonishment about Cllr Wiltshire's update! " My Road work's Team"? I wonder if KCC Roadworks Manager (an excellent LG officer), David Latham, realises that Cllr Wiltshire has a 'Roadwork's Team' as well as his team.
.
I was under the impression that roads and their works was a KCC Highways responsibility not TDCs? What team is she talking about? Who are they and where are they beavering away at Cllr Wiltshire's direction and management? Or could it be that 'Our Ken' and Cllr Savage each have a 'roadworks team as well?
.
I would love to know, or is this a classic case of 'bull' to poor hardpressed village yokels who don't know quite who does what and are expected to believe what they are told? Can anyone clarify this and if necessary I will apologise to Cllr Wiltshire and 'her team' who are working so hard on TDC's roads.

Bertie, I have always been at a bit of a loss to understand why Bill Hayton was replaced as Chair of Planning. I think that he was generally viewed as a safe pair of hands for a department that above all needs to demonstrate transparency. Now we have 'Our Ken' no particular gripe on this issue but also Cllr Day as Vice who is a builder and developer. This coupling does not sit easily. It might be jobs for the boys as far as our leader is concerned but it begs some questions and does seem appropriate.

Ken's reluctance to remove the offending comment may have something to do with the point that Cllr Hayton was one of only two Tories that voted against Ezekiel continuing as Tory Group Leader at TDC.
The other one with a shred of decency left? Cllr Jason Savage!

I'm afraid this lady is one of the 2 in the local TDC cabinet "not blessed with many brain cells" i know it is a nasty thing to say but there is only one who has a brain, that's before we start on the men!Call me catty but you only have to listen to them in action at planning and cabinet to get the jist!(slow on the uptake usually way behind even the leader and thats giving him some credit!)Perhaps they have only just twigged the political disadvantage they are now in - they thought it was a nice cushy number, just be friendly to the electorate at election time, they didnt dream of an activist like Jenny Matterface invading their patch! Shake them up Jenny! you certainly will!

Some interesting observations this morning!
08:24, I have to admit to sharing your unease, and I think that you meant inappropriate at the end of yous comment? However, I am sure Cllr Day carries out his duties diligently and with integrity.

08:46, seems to better informed than most, including Bertie. My view now, is to just sit back and await the results of a meeting on 22 April and will make no further comment on matters that others must decide.

08:49, it is a rather nasty thing to say. I can understand anyone having difficulty keeping-up some-times, if the meeting of the 9th Oct was typical of TDC meetings.

You make a valid point about those Conservative Councillors with low profiles in their Wards, needing to raise their game. They would also be helping their Colleagues who have aspirations as KCC Cllrs in a short while.

I think I may 'blog' about your 'overuse' of these 'exclamation' mark 'things'.
Just a 'thought' i had the other 'afternoon'...

12.37, a weakness of mine I'm afraid. A science background has its price.

Dear 12.37 - it's not overuse of exclamation marks you're talking about but single inverted commas. To clarify, this is an exclamation mark ! and this is a single inverted comma ' . You must try harder - see me after class!

12.37 and 16.39, I will try harder to avoid emphasis and mis-use of inverted single commas but forgive me if I get carried away from time to time.

18.25, I am afraid I have had to pull your comment for editing. Here is your comment with amendment:

I see that the self deprecating Head of Planning has posted a very witty April Fools joke on his site.

As April Fool's Day is tomorrow, what does that make him. A total ***** ****. Or is he proving that he can't even read a calender properly.

Perhaps conservative councillors hav lower profiles becus they have jobs. not like liebour who seem to be mostly unemployed, on invalidity benifit or pensions.

22.36 - Hysterical!!! Haven't laughed so much in ages. Spelling seems to remind me of someone?

I can say that 'Our Bill' was the only one who voted against 'our' sandy, and 'Our'Jason voted for him

Thanks for that snippet, 16.43.

It has been brought to my attention that I may have been a little harsh on Cllr Wiltshire and that her KCC member may not have advised her fully on what steps he had been taking in discussions with KCC Highways in regard to gas works at St Peters. My understanding is that he wished to shoulder any blame that may have been laid at her door and with such an eaxmple of integrity, it would be inappropriate for Bertie not to apologise to Cllr Wiltshire for being a little harsh with his commentary.

I was only 'yanking' your 'chain', BB.

I loves ya really!

Keep up the great work.

Thanks 13.05, but a valid point nonetheless. I will try to use inverted commas sparingly.

Didn't Bill H resist the China Gateway?

It would appear that Dr (Non medical) Moores is getting out of his pram with your "creature of the night" Bertie, and even posting bits of your blog onto his site!

It would appear that the "creature of the night" has been picking away at the good Doc's educational background. Enough for comments on Eastcliff Matters to suddenly be taken down! ( Threats of reports to standards again no doubt! )

Me thinks he doth complain too much!

There would also appear to be some mischief occuring on Ken (Turncoat) Gregory's site.

Someone, possibly your "creature of the night" is harping on about the CRB checks being required by the Labour party, and questioning whether this is why somone might consider politically jumping ship?

The implication being that if you have something to hide, join the Tories!
