There is however a small snag. Her Majesty's representative is likely to find roads blocked off as the revisit to the gas-mains work will be in full progress. The pictures below show holes opened up and ready and even some modern technology of a plank of wood in place! One has to ask, why wasn't the job done properly in the spring after so much disruption to local businesses and massive inconvenience to the public?
Sources tell me that the start of road closures and some serious work has been delayed at the request of TDC for a Dickens to Turner walk!
.
So in the nicest possible way, b*gger Her Majesty's instructions to Her Lord Lieutenant in regard to a presentation on Her behalf, but TDC can delay the work without considering the events of 2nd July in St Peter's for some arty farty Turner Contemporary promotion?
.
I hope some KCC and TDC Councillors will look into this matter and clarify if the Lord Lieutenant can carry out Her Majesty's wishes on the 2nd July without having to pick his way past gas mains work that should have been done properly in the first place.

I have already commented on how pathetic the notice on cllr Gregory's website, where is his fight for the well-being of those who voted for him. In fact where is the visibility of most Conservative big wigs in the cabinet etc in most of their wards,it appears they sit back and take the allowances and in most cases that is about all they do for their wards.
Thinking about the lack of funds for wheelie bins in Ramsgate (IOTG yesterday) - instead of splashing out on a loud air show (big event) wouldnt it be better to deal with some of the more mundane issues like hygiene in Ramsgate - bin bags spewing mess on collection days cant be very environmentally healthy! (nor is the noise pollution from Biggles' aircraft and the like!)
I understand the Mayor of Broadstairs, Cllr. Mave Saunders, has been contacted to ask if she can somehow get the work delayed.
As she is a town councillor not a KCC/TDC one I doubt she'll have much influence over Kent Highways.
Re. the posting by 8.54, I couldn't agree more. Does the Big Event bring people into the area or is it mainly locals who attend? Just hope none wants to use the loo as they'll have a job finding one unless portaloos have been installed.
Whilst most would be taking pictures of planes, Matt B on ThanetStar has pics of queues at portaloos yesterday at Big Event!
Comments made to me today highlighted the cost of things as well as the loo queue.
Lack of clear organisation regarding what was happening when etc.
TDC and organising well, that'll be a p**s up in a brewery then.
So, 90000 people turn up for a free event, find a fairground ride costs a fiver, food is sold at ridiculous prices, you have to park miles away, the parking attendants book anyone who parks nearer, no-one knows what's happening due to the lack or available programmes, the queues for the loos....but it's a success according to the council. Great!! Now, how much has it cost each and everyone of us via our council tax and who actually made any money from it?
oh stop it , The closure is now delayed until after the event re the village tour, I cannot claim that it was all my work, but a joint effort did the job, 0854, I am not in the cabinet, but i do understand your anger, as you do not have the full facts, but jump to 'gob' before checking it out.
Well CGP helped to sponsor the event, so no doubt they'll do alright out of it!
Good to hear that Cllr Gregory and well done to you and all those involved in making sure that The Village Tour Award can go ahead with minimum disruption.
