TIME FOR A LIGHTER MOMENT COURTESY OF THANET EARTH

My thanks to an Acol contributor for these night shots from their back garden of the new Aurora Tenetis that comes to us courtesy of Thanet Earth. A more mundane description might be 'light pollution' on the grand scale, particularly when low cloudbase conditions occur.

So the rural village of Acol has many a night with an orange glow penetrating residents windows and if CGI implements its China Gateway scheme as approved in Oct 2008, this eerie glow will be matched by the sound of grinding gears and the thud of diesel engines.

As 'Strife' has reported before, Thanet Earth is effectively an industrial estate with light pollution at night and equal visual impact in the day, on the main approach to Thanet. What will be the light pollution and impact when all 7 glass-houses are up and running if this is the effect from just 3?  Was it worth it all to create low-paid jobs for a work-force, predominantly  recruited from Eastern Europe?

Thanet and its people ( or should I say a*******s) have had the environment ruined; an industrialised landscape (and now a similar seascape) and what has been the benefit in job creation for Thanet residents? Is there any benefit at all to Thanet from Thanet Earth?

Just had a look at their FAQ on the subject which can be found here:

http://thanetearth.com/faqs-light-pollution.html

They say the lights aren't switched on until midnight and have blinds to prevent light leakage!

Bertie, you forget the added noise pollution from manston, serving nearly 6,000,00 passengers should tdc and the airport get their way/wish.

If you think the effect of china gate and Thanet earth are bad, imagine the noise and light pollution, ad well as additional road traffic this monster will being to our tranquil isle.

Be careful what you wish for 'ar****les'..........

Bertie when they were bulldosing the Thanet topsoil for Thanet Earth that has taken the local farming community hundreds of years to get to the prime condition that it is in now, one local farmer described it to me as an act of vandalism bordering on sacrilege.

Bertie, the electricity bill must be a hefty one they are probably plugged in to the wind farm by the looks of it.

Berie would prefer to consume pesticide laden produce from Spain or Morroco?

Do you even understand how produce in southern countries is produced is wasting valuable resources such as water? At least the production methods at Thanet Earth are harmless to the environment. They even produce green electricity.

If you don't see it, it doesn't mean it's not happening Bertie...

The work force is not of English descent because we might be too lazy to do it ourselves??

Mr. Bertie, what actions do you undertake (besides moaning all day) to make a productive contribution to our society?

12:34, I am fascinated by your comment!

Firstly, I assume that the FSA is looking after my welfare in regard to produce from Spain and Morocco.

What exactly is 'green electricity'? The two steam/exhaust plumes belching from the site are using what fuel for heating and lighting?

In terms of local employment in a deprived area, the issue is not English descent but local Thanet people. 500 local jobs were 'touted' with The Thanet Earth Planning application, so why has serious recruitment in Thanet never ocurred?

Why has the light pollution issue not been addressed?

As for your last comment about me making a 'productive contribution to our society'; go and find out who I am; what I have done to serve my Country; my service to and with young people in Thanet and what I was doing earlier today to improve our environment and mitigate the impact of spreading industrialisation of Thanet's countryside.

(Here's a clue for you: drive down Acol Hill; Margate Hill; Shottendane Rd; Manston Rd; Park Rd and Woodchurch Rd?)
