EUROFERRIES - LATEST NEWS & GOSSIP

The team at Strife has grown bigger over the past few days with offers of help from many quarters. Firstly, news from our French reporters in Boulogne.
.
They have sent me the two pics you can see of a ramp completed in Gare Maritime a few weeks ago, reputedly, in preparation for Euroferries Bonanza Express. Readers should be aware that this part of the harbour in Boulogne is pretty run-down now, with LD Lines having moved to the new 'Hub'. Could it be that like PRCs images of Ramsgate with multi-blocks of sea-side luxury flats, the French have plans for a similar development at Gare Maritime?

It does seem at the moment that those French chaps in Boulogne seem better prepared for Bonanza than poor old TDC at Ramsgate. Our 'Woger' might like to consider this?
.
Other news.
.
The team in Ramsgate report that Euroferries seem, via their ticket agencies, to be refunding fares to those who booked for the 14th November onwards. That is good news.
.
A Strife reporter has managed today, to book a foot passenger crossing on Thursday 26th November for 08:35 hrs! So, the Santa Cruz Harbour departure schedule of last week showing Bonanza leaving there on 22 Nov, gives it 4 days to get to Ramsgate, get checked out and do its stuff. So 'ferry spotters' can get down to Ramsgate on 26th to see Bonanza get on its way? If you want to talk to Fred Olsen in Santa Cruz, feel free to ring 0034-922-6282000.
.
If, like a child who has got fed up with finding its milk teeth under the pillow in the morning instead of a £1 coin, and you have lost faith in the 'Tooth Fairy', you might be interested to hear of the explaination given by Euroferries' press release authors of the press release dated 3rd Nov that failed to arrive with anyone until the 10th Nov. A lady at www.goodpublicity.co. uk had this to say in regard to the 3rd Nov date on the press release when asked by a Strife reporter,
"I can't see properly" - " I put the wrong date in the calendar".
.
Really? I hope Euroferries haven't paid them yet!
.
Another resesrcher beavering away today came up with some business stuff that Bertie doesn't really understand too well and readers might be able to help out with.
.
It would seem that http:/www.ukdata.com/numbers/05883830.html lists some stuff about Euroferries Holdings Ltd, with its office registered in a warden assisted flat in Kingston upon Thames; here are some extracts:
30/10/09 First notification of strike off action in London Gazette (Section 652)
25/06/09 Second notification of strike off action in London Gazette (Section 652)
13/03/09 First notification of strike off action in London Gazette (Section 652)
09/03/09 Application for striking off.
.
Bertie is having a whip -round to raise some readies to pay for the fees to find out who is making these Section 652 notifications; it is all so intriguing!
.
Edna, our tea-lady (expansion has meant that we can employ her again) said to me today, "Mr Biggles, wot I carn't understand is why these Euroferries people aint advertismentising orl over Thanet in The Fannit Times, The Gazettte , Your Fannit, on KMFM, Invctor and why they aint 'aving a write old knees up wiv, Sandy and Woger and Ladybird darn in the 'arbour to send this Bonanza pussy- thing on its way to Bogloynne on the 26th in some sorta style? My old man orways said, Edna, old gal, you gotta specerlate to acoomoolate"
.
How do you answer such a profound question?

Don't pay the ferryman,
Don't even fix a price,
Don't pay the ferryman,
Until he gets you to the other side.

In the good old Greek days, Charon the ferryman, carried the souls of the dead across the River Acheron ( branch of the river Styx) to Hades! (Hell for the rest of us!)

This somehow now looks like Ferryman Woger Charon, carrying the dead across the Channel to Thanet (Hades/Hell/Shit hole).

Thank Zeus for the Muses. At least they might like the Tate Gallery!

No other bugger will be visiting it!

Message from Blind Pew

Oiiii, me being a member of the Pirates and fully subscribe to the ISP agreement, can see very clearly that the reward being put up by the cowboys is accurate? But I cannot make out the bottom line - does it say Kitty Fiddling?

I think you will find that there are 4 companies registered as Euroferries 2 are disolved and 2 are still up and running.

Shipping and holdings are disolved.
Express and Limited still running

Thanet on line - Antonio says a Friday deadline to pay - again.

How can you possibly run a ferry service if you can't afford the charter in the first place ?

Read it, thanks have done.

Glad to see anon of 10.15 has picked up on the deadline set by Fred Olsen. The question of course that needs asking is what was Fred Olsen's previous deadline if Bonanza was meant to be up and running in Ramsgate in two days time and how many unmet deadlines have Fred Olsen had?

10:15, you must remember that finance is a complicated business and that a 'banker'/ 'backer' behind Euroferries may be the cause of delay.

My thanks to derick 97, and readers should go and read both the links he has put up.

Strife reported back in Feb about the odd goings on in 2006/7 with the Spirit of Ontario and derick 97's link gives you a detailed history of Euroferries previous dealings to set up a ferry service from Dover with a fast cat. READ IT and spot any similarities to this year's events?

Thanks 19.21, for posting this. Readers might already be aware that ECR has made this statement on his blog. I have had to 'edit' as otherwise it might be misconstrued by some that Strife was making the apology!

Euroferries - An Apology
In a recent item on this blog entitled 'Breaking News - Euroferries goes bust' the following statement was made: 'According to the ongoing debate on Adem's Big Blog about the new fast ferry service between Ramsgate and Boulogne which is due to start on 14 November, Euroferries, the operator which was attempting to introduce the service, has just 'gone bust'. This is an unconfirmed report at the moment. More updates as they come.'

I would like to make it clear that this allegation was false and unjustified. Euroferries are not 'bankrupt' or in any other way insolvent and I apologise to them unreservedly. I have undertaken not to repeat these allegations.

What a shame that Cllr Moores has turned this problem with ECR and Adem Big Blog into yet another political scoff proving his world view right on Thanet Life.

Would he not be better off reassuring us that his administration is doing everything to ensure that the council taxpayers money is not being wasted on pipe dreams? Or is it the case that he doesn't know?

Bertie Biggles said...

Cllr Moores is correct to remind us 'bloggers' to be cautious.

You must also forgive him if he allows himself to enjoy the temporary discomfort that ECR has had. The 'Blog Wars' episode in early 2008 was not pleasant.

Anonymous said...

Not pleasant, but I seem to recall it was a blogger called OVIT who was responsible, not ECR. And that Dr Moores blew his bloomers all over the compliant local press, effectively shutting down every anonymous blogger on the island without, one presumes, having to spend a single penny.

Come on Bertie, get your facts straight. You usually do!

Doing my best, 00:49.

Well, given that you started this anonymous blog in response to the 2008 Blog Wars, I would have thought you might have remembered that.

Anyway, please do not take that as a criticism of your excellent blog. Just jogging your memory. Keep up the good work!

13.45, I have moved your comment to this item as it seems more applicable:

Bertie i am horrified in IOTG (Smudger) it seems to imply that Brian White might be put forward to run the harbour at Ramsgate too as part of his portfolia, *****edited out***** the harbour's woes won't improve?!also he ******edited out********* so he shouldn't be given more? any slant on that?

13 November 2009 13:45

No slant on that at the moment. I regret I felt it necessary to edit part of your comments.
